Default Lower radiator hose question

Morning Fellow Vetteheads,
I finally installed the radiator last night whewwwww what a trip.
The question is, I bought the lower hose from NAPA, however it does NOT have the spring reinforcement the original had, tried to take it out of the old one but it broke, how IMPORTANT is the spring reinforcement for this hose??? If it is I will have to wait until Monday and order one from a Ecklers or CC as I do not think I will be able to acquire said hose in town.
Thank All in Advance

There has been a lot of discussion about the need for the spring. Some says yes some no
The spring should or will prevent the lower hose from collapsing. So, to be on the safe side I would get and install the spring.

I bought a NAPA set about 3 years ago without any issues yet. Question I have is if the bottom hose is on the In side of the radiator or the Return side? If on the In side then the pressure of the pump means the hose shouldn't collapse as it is under pressure.

You said it is on the In side or return side. The lower hose is on the return side, in side to the pump. The pump if will spin faster as the motor spins faster and could collapse the hose without the spring. Having said that, my LS swap setup does not have the spring in the hose and I have had it spun up to around 6400 RPM with no problems.

the bottom hose is on the SUCTION side of the pump.....hence the spring issue, however some of the newer style hoses are manufactured with different techniques that may or may not require a spring.......

I was told that the spring is there originally due to the process they use at the factory, which would cause the hose to collapse; should be good without the spring through normal use.

Correct, it is easier to pull a length of chain then to push it.
