Default Can I use Crossfire Injection on 383/400hp

Say yall am thinking about taking out factory 350/200 and crating it and go back in with a 383/400+hp. My Vette is a 1982 Crossfire. Is it possible that I can still use the crossfire injection???? ....Thanks, Donald

If you're going to all the trouble of installing a crate engine, which would make the car non-original, then I would go with a different EFI system (unless you want to go the carburetor route).

There are several aftermarket EFI systems that are good...such as Edelbrock, Holley, Accel as well as GM Performance. Not all may fit properly under the hood though.

The problem with the Crossfire system is it's limited in power production and there is little on the market to change that as well as keep it in stock repair. You would be installing an EFI that would severely restrict the ability of that stroker engine to make its rated power. A mid-80s through early '90s TPI would be much better than the Crossfire.

Nothing wrong with a Crossfire if properly maintained, but it won't work on a hot 383 without mods. I would look on a Crossfire forum and see what upgrades are required, I am no expert on them. I believe with an intake, throttle bodies, computer swap, and exhaust it will work. Sounds like a lot, but depends on how much you are willing to do. I would not give up and I would find a way to stay FI, but that's just me.

Your Crossfire throttle bodies won't support a 400 hp engine...they're too small. Why don't you just buy a 'turnkey' crate engine with fuel injection already on it, since you are starting from scratch (per your "crating the present engine" statement).
