Default Evaporator Repair

Hello,

I discovered my evaporator has a very small hole in it, hopefully just the one. Is it possible to either weld or solder it? What about JB Weld? Any other ideas (besides "spend $300 for a new one?")

Thanks,
Jim

I doubt that will be repairable.
A/C shop may be able to weld on a new tube

You can get aluminum brazing rods that should work. I got a new evaporator from a place called A/C kits in AZ for less than $100. I think they have the rods too.

Was the evaporator you bought from ackits.com an exact replacement, or a univeral-fit one?

I found a radiator shop that was able to repair the hole. They said they tested it and it's not leaking.
