Intake Manifold Damaged?
As part of my frame off rebuild I replaced the non- stock intake manifold and carb with the original stock intake manifold and carb on my '69 427 390 HP motor. Before installing the front two mounting bolts for the stock carb in the intake, I inserted a probe to check thread depth and was surprised to find that the left side (driver's side) appeared to go down well below the thread tapping (an inch and a half or so before bottoming). Wondering if a prior owner over drilled or drove a bolt through the intake bolt seat.... I am concerned that even with the bolt inserted this may cause a leak. The bolt tighted down and torqued in properly.
Is this a problem? If so, what can I do about it?
