Fan Clutch
What are the symptoms of a failing fan clutch? Mine has a little play in the hub and the fan free-wheels for several seconds after the engine is shut down. Thanks!

I don't think there should be any "play" in the fan clutch. Mine doesn't and it doesn't spin after the engine stops.

no play in the clutch at all. make sure its the clutch and not the water pump bearing gone bad. the fan should stop right when the car is turned off maybe a half turn after. also look for leaking silcone fluid coming out of the shaft area sure sign its gone.

Sounds like I need a new one! At least it is a relatively cheap and easy fix. Thanks all!

The stock fan really moves a bunch of air and running it direct is going to waste a lot of energy. The fan clutch slips when all that air is not needed.
