Default Fel Pro Header Gaskets

Do you guys do anything special when you install them? I have never used silicon in the past without problems... until now. I have ticking after installing new headers. Re-torquing them did no good. Any suggestions beyond me putting in a new gasket? They're the FelPro 1404's if you want to look them up.

I have headers on my 78 Z28 Camaro and I just dropped the exhaust gasket right in without any silicone and haven't had a problem, I've had them on the car for a year now. You probably overtightened them or something. If you want to get rid of the problem you should buy some copper exhaust gaskets. I've never seen anybody put silicone on exhaust gaskets. Good luck

never use anything like silicone on exhaust (header) gaskets. the copper ones will seal great but a little more expensive then the norm. that said we do use black rtv here at work on the fleet vehicles exhaust clamp areas.
