I'm replacing my calipers so i decided while i was there i might as well replace the rubber brake line too. here is the problem, someone before me tried and messed up the outside of the line where it hooks up to the metal line (they didn't use a line wrench) and the pressure fitting on the metal line.
anyone have any suggestions on how i can get the rubber line off without destroying the metal line in the process.
I had the same problem few weeks ago when I was installing a new braided lines. I used a vise grip to catch the bolt hard and I managed to unbolt them all.
After using penetrating fluid on the connection some people have suggested using the vise grip wrench on the flare-nut wrench. This holds the flare-nut wrench tight but doesn't crush the flare nut so easily.
Good Luck!

Alan

That's a great idea!
I just vice gripped mine off when I did my stainless line upgrade last winter.
It's REAL easy to have the vice-grip slip and round off the flair nut, even more.
Penetrating fluid everyday this week, and prayers every night this week.

I'm doing the same thing to my '76 right now. Even the 3/8" flare nut wrench wants to slip and round off the nut. Is that the right size wrench? Anyone have a good idea?
