Default Help with carb fitting...

I have an Edlebrock 1406 carb with a standard nipple/hose fitting for a rubber fuel line (see pic below). I would like to go with a stainless steel line from the fuel pump to the carb with a screw in filter in between (as per Lar's fuel line paper). Is there a fitting that I can use in place of the current fitting? I looks like the standard nipple/hose fitting will screw off. I just need a fitting that will screw in to replace it. Thanks.

Go to summitracing.com and search on "banjo fitting"
Your pic shows a standard nipple/hose fitting.

They make a fitting that will screw into that carb having an inverted flare (female) fitting... you can get them in 5/16 or 3/8.

e.g.- Summit part HLY-26-26, HLY-26-27
Just make sure your carb thread matches the thread of the fitting.

Default Fitting

Buzz,
I made-up the solid 3/8 line with FI filter incorporated, as per Lars article, and am also running an Edelbrock carb as you show. Thought it was retarded to spend that kind of money for a fitting, so plumbed it hardline to below the Edelbrock to an anchored elbow, and then just ran a short length of 3/8 FI rubber hose to the barbed carb inlet. Actually like it better than solid all the way, as it allows for easy carb removal/replacement. Let me know if you want a picture!

Edelbrock makes a tube with the banjo fitting that drops down and hooks forward to clear all the choke linkage and any air cleaner you might be using. It ends with a -6AN fitting and comes with an in-line filter. I used the tube and banjo bolt but used a larger Earl's filter, then made up a new steel line with the 3/8 inverted flare into the pump and a -6AN and flare to connect to the filter. No rubber or extra couplings that might leak.

I used that setup on my 1967.

I found this same setup on the Edlebrock site and tried to find it. Autozone says the vendor is out of them and doesn't know when they will be able to order one, so I will be looking for it at other places. If anyone knows where they are available, let me know. Thanks.

Was wondering why you have the vacuum advance plugging into the manifold vacuum port instead of the timed vacuum port. I had my setup the same way as yours, but a Chevy engine expert said I had it wrong and it should be connected to the timed port.

BTW, where did you get your valve covers? I'm looking for some new ones and yours looks really good.

The 1967 327/300 had a PCV but was basically a non-emissions engine. So I connected to manifold vacuum as per the Edelbrock instructions you have shown. It ran very well for five years that way. I sold it about a year ago.

Summit is fast to ship.

Thanks for the link. What did you use for the line from the fuel pump to the filter? The one in your pic doesn't look like the standard stainless steel fuel line.

Also, do you remember where you got your valve covers from?

I made up that line from 3/8" brake tubing and various Edelbrock/Russell fittings/adaptors. It took some time with the bending and flaring but things eventually came around. It was leak-free and worked well.

This flex line from Russell is another (easier) option that I used initially. It just threads right on the filter. At the pump end you need the 90* adapter shown in the pic above. But it does have a rubber core and I wanted to go all steel.

The valve covers are stock C2/L-79 highly polished by a local motorcycle shop. They have no holes for PCV and oil fill so will not work on a C3.

The #1406 carb worked flawlessly for me. I sold the car a year ago.
