By now some of you know I have a 76 that I am putting back together. One thing I have found is the t tops are different. I believe my 76 used t tops with two latches. I have new smoke glass t tops with only one latch. Now I am wondering what's up with the difference? Can anyone shed some light on the differences?
There are lots of differences in the tops and really too many to list. The main thing is that your glass tops can fit your car. You will need to change the rear T-top lock plates to the 1978-1979 or the 80-82 style. The rear pin that comes out of the top when you latch the top will then go in to this striker.
This came up sometime last year and someone else posted "just removed the Triangle bolt" and I think enlarged the hole to accept the rod. I’ve never done it this way so maybe by my posting to this someone else will give more input about this method.
You might search the archives for a prior post on this. It may answer your questions in even more detail.
Once you do this the tops will fit the car just fine.

This is an interesting question.
I have single latch mirror tops in my '75 and the painted tops. Got both with the car when I bought it 5 years ago. I use the mirrored tops. Never taken the painted tops out of their slip covers except to replace the weather stripping when I was doing the entire car's W/stripping.
Might have to see if the painted will fit or if I have to re-mod.
