I need to make a bracket that will hold the Holley Universal Throttle Solenoid in place to bump up my RPM's when my A/C Compressor is engaged. I have a guy at a muffler shop that says he can cut anything out for me and weld where I need it, I just need to design the bracket and bring him the material. He didn't really give me any more criteria beyond this. Should I use hot rolled, cold finished, or my best guess... stainless steel. That being said how thin of a piece do you think I can get by with that he could weld? 1/8", 3/16", or should I go for 1/4"? I know very little (to nothing) about welding / the materials required. Any other pertinent info I should know? Thanks for the help.
See if one of those will fit. You can also try Summit. I looked at the Lokar site, no luck. Lokar uses a heavy gauge sheet metal for their products. http://www.lokar.com/index.htm
If you can find a 'ready-made' bracket, that would be easier. If you can't, use 1/8" stainless material if you can get it. 1/8" thick steel of any kind will serve your purpose. You'll just have to prime it with zinc chromate and paint with a good engine enamel if the material that you select will rust.
Sadly none of those brackets work... So I'm left to fabricate my own. I'll check out Lowe's for the sheetstock then get a good engine enamel once its finished. Thanks for the help
