Call Steve LuVisi at Automitive Expertise in Huntington Beach. He redid mine on my '64 and is probably the most knowledgeable C1, C2, C3 (maybe even C4) mechanic in So Cal, as well as the most reasonable and most honest. He usually has a waiting list. There are others on this Forum who also use him.
BTW, J&D really screwed up my '64 and after giving them $3K to redo the rear end, it failed at the U-joint that they were told to replace. When I picked up the car and asked if they (the U-joints) had been replaced, their response was, "They looked good so we just greased them well."
After the U-joint snapped and did >$3K in damage, Steve LuVisi said that the joints were bone dry and J&D never did even lube them.
J&D would not stand behind their work because they said that I snapped the U-joint at the drags and they don't guarentee against racing mishaps.
