need some info on replaceing rear main
ok, i've been chasing oil leaks and iam down to the rear main seal on my 82. I think on some chevys you can do this without dropping the tranny, but not sure about my 82 vett. has anyone done this job and if so, how and how bad was it..........thanks

if i recall doesnt the rear main get taken out by dropping the oil pan then removing the cap and seal. then replacing it and the bottom part of the new seal a bit off center from the top part to avoid (so called leak spot)? i dont recall having the get into the trans for that rear main.
