Went to the gas station the other night filled up. On my way home about a 3 mile ride smell gas pulled in the driveway shut off engine. Gas leaking on the right side by the frame rails and fuel lines rags and bucket under the car for about ten min. did not look like it was going to stop leaking started it up pulled in the garage and leak stoped. What went wrong any idea's no promblem any more. Did I fill the tank to high to cause it to leak gas from somewhere.
The tank could be leaking and have a hole in it. The filler neck gasket could be leaking and if you filled it to the rim and parked on an incline this would cause the leak to stop on a flat surface.
One of the rubber lines from the tank could be cracked, or it could be from the over flow filler neck and draining out the over flow hose (If you spilled in the over flow neck). I would surely try to find out what caused the leak! All the above could leak with a full tank and then stop when the level drained to below the leak.
A sign you have a leaking tank and most people on the forum know about on this forum. . . Look at your mufflers and see if they look like someone put brown tar on them. If you see this brownish color, this is fuel that has burnt on the exhaust and there is a real good chance you have a leaking tank.
