Straight pipes
I have a '74, no cats, if I have the local exhaust shop take my mufflers off and run straight pipes, I have a 350 with a mild cam, what would the result be? Would it be obnoxious?

its a bit truckish but on a stock motor with stock manifolds its tolerable. people can certainly hear you coming. your just going to have to try it cause every exhaust/car is different. you will certainly sound like you have a bigger motor then you really have.why get an exhaust shop to do it. just cut them off .

That depends on what you consider loud. I have dual chambered exhaust on my 74 T-Top and most of my trips are 100 miles or less, so I think the noise is just fine. Most of the time I have the tops off so you can't hear the stock radio anyway at highway speed. Next to my 66 Vert with side pipes, I dont see a problem. PG.
