How can I check my fuel sender at the tank. I did the ohm meter reading at the sender terminal & ground. I get nothing. I have 2 senders, a new one in the tank & one on the bench & get no reading on either one. Am i doing something wrong or are they both junk ?
Thanks for posting these troubleshooting sheets. My fuel gauge is stuck at 1/4. From these instructions, it looks like I have a bad resistor. Where can I find one?

Matt,
If you pull the gauge out of the car and find the resistor is defective, you can purchase a 1 watt, 90 ohm resistor online or from Radio Shack. You'll have to solder some loops on the end of it, but it will work just fine. I'm sorry, I do not have any extras to send you.
Similar topic for Wilcox - pulled my tank & sender. Everything was OK before, but this is a 30 yo sender. Would it be best to replace it now? BTW 79
Not really, If the system is working fine I would leave it alone and just test it before you install it back in the car! . The senders from time to time will go bad, but in most cases the problems in your cars are wire problems.
I have some help pages for the both of you on the site. One for 1968-1976 and one for 1977-1982
