I used to have an auto tranny with 3500 stall even rolling at 35 mph in second gear I could floor it an have to let off after leaving twin 315/35/17 black marks for 200-300 feet.
Your 3800 stall and 496 if well tuned should even do better.
Has anyone over tried to install current model496 from GM? The 8.1lt distributerless 496. This was found in some of the 1ton trucks. I installed one in our Supra barefoot boat. 425hp @5,200 rpm all day long. I know it would never fit under the stock hood as the intake if fairly large. the motor mount location are the same GM small and big block locations. The efi was easy to locate in the boat. allan
i had billet tall that hit brakebooster, and air conditioning housing. i had them notched out and aluminum bar welded back in. workmanship looks stocking
i have a theme of black engine bay with chrome or aluminum no other colors so i think if i had it my way the carb metering blocks and base would be black. i doo like the clasic chevy orange but my car has no orange on it any whare so that was my thaughts!!!
I don't know about the year of his car, but I could have installed the Hooker sidemounts on my '69 from across the street with a stick. They almost fell in. (If things can fall up!) Went in from the bottom with zero problems. didn't even ding the Jet-Hot coating.
yeah i bought the black hooker headers and test fitted them with the engine in had to massage the 3rd cylinder tube. hit the power steering unit. so i peend a little til it fit then i sent it out to jet hot. i noticed the heads have a slight different mounting holes than stock. just waiting for them to come back been like two weeks..... i just have to find a power steering pump and bracket and pully and i will fire it up!
