Default 81 power windows

Where would a power window relay be located on an 81?

I don't believe that they used relays after 1978. 79-82 had a 35 amp circuit breaker installed in the fuse block. Power ran through the circuit breaker and was only hot when a switch was activated. There is a relay and a flasher plugged into the harness that connects to the power window switches, where the harness runs under the console. I think this relay and flasher were part of the anti-theft system though. On earlier cars, the relay was mounted on a reinforcement under the console, where the console meets the dash.

Maybe someone else one the forum can give you a little better info on this. Good luck!

81 has no relay. Here is a schematic. Make sure the grounds on the doors are connected to the inner door skin on the door end and to the ground harness inside the kick panels. Check the connectors on the motors, note that there arw 2 wires, 1 up and 1 down, the motor gets its ground thru the case. Clean the switches with contact cleaner, being mounted where they are they collect junk in them.
