A few months back I replaced the power door lock motor on the passenger side of my 82. It never quite moved enough to lock or unlock the door. Are they adjustable in any way? I recall seeing what looked like a cross headed adjuster-type screw on the motor, anyone know what that is?
I have a used actuator here in my hand and there is no adjustment on it that I can see. The actuator only bolts to the bracket in one position and the bracket then gets riveted to the door. The arm that comes in and out of the actuator has no adjustment to it and the rod that goes from the actuator to the pivot or lever assembly is fixed in length also. The only possible adjustment I can think of might be in the positioning of the lever assembly on the door, but I doubt that would effect anything.
Is the actuator operating properly, are any of the rods bent, is the lever binding or bent in some way or could anything else be binding in the door? Just thinking out loud.
I took a quick look at my 81 Shop Manual and Assembly Manual (81 power lock set up is identical to 82) and neither book lists any adjustment procedures.
Sorry I didn't have anything more positive to offer.
I had the same issues on my 81. Make sure EVERY moving point is lubricated properly. Get an oil can and go to town. There's probably a lot of gunk and old grease built up on the moving parts, and that's keeping it from moving completely. Find the points that move, put some oil on it, and then manually operate the lock for a while. More oil. Repeat. This fixed the problem for me.
