I haven't broke the M21 YET and I've been pretty hard on it. If the T45RS IS stronger then it might be enuf for me. HamadUP do you have anything besides just an "I believe" (or gut feeling?) to back this up? I'm not being a hardass here just trying to go to the T45RS as it is the cheaper route. If I can find something to justify it I will. Thanx.

Well, the original T45's were rated at 325ft/lbs. They came in the 1996-early 2001 Mustang GT's and Cobra's.
When we make our T45RS, we replace the 10 spline input shaft with a 26 spline like the TKO's use. We don't change anything else internally. We do go thru them completely and rebuild them if necessary, but as far as beefing them up, no. The T45's came stock with carbon fiber syncros and blockers which are stronger than the standard paper based material used in T5's. We also have a few "tricks" up our sleeves but nothing to make these comparable to say a TKO.
As I said earlier, it may work well, for a time, behind a modded big block but why take a chance? I wouldn't want my transmission to be the weak link in the driveline.
I just saw this thread an realized that Richard was perhaps misunderstanding the torque rating of the product. Since he handles the tech/service side, we may not have brought him up to speed to field the sales questions about the new T45-RS, but I can.
We have 2 models:
T45-RS350 - rated at 350 torque and horsepower
T45-RS425 - rated at 425 torque and horsepower
The torque ratings are for 24hr/day, 7 days/week at full rated torque, for the life of the warranty (6months). Since most street guys running 235-275 radials are going to slip the tires, and the transmission will not see the full torque. Even if the transmission does see full torque, it's unlikely you are going to be running it hard for long enough that you would notice any considerable degradation in transmission performance.
I recommend the T45-RS350 for the following apps:
327, 350, 383 mild
I recommend the T45-RS425 for the following apps:
383 hot, 400 hot, 427 stock, 454 stock
Remember, that even if you run more than the rated capacity, it doesn't mean that it will come apart on you, it means that it will wear quicker. At some point as you near the 500 torque mark with DOT street slicks, do a lot of drag racing, you should consider the next level IF you break something.

So if you have more than the recommended HP for the T45-RS425 (490HP at the fly wheel) BUT you ONLY run street tires (BFG T/A 255/60/15) and they are then the weak point, you would be okay with the T45-RS425? Am I thinking straight here? Would it still handle a few runs at the prepped race track but still using the same tires
I didn't realise this thread was still active.
After a bunch of research, and my car being a "cruiser" only, I think I like this product. I will be placing an order for the T-45rs next week. Next major Winter project!!

Hi Shmoky,
Yes, you are correct. We now have customers running the T45-RS425 at over 500HP with no problems. Many late model Mustangs run this transmission in 11 sec 1/4mi cars. I would put it in without hesitation.
The T45-RS shift quality is truly incredible.
Check out the Corvette Fever feature in this month's issue (November 2009). I will post a link to it in a bit. And watch Alan Colvin's (editor of Corvette Fever) driving video on KeislerTV.com or on CorvetteFever.com

Hi Kim,
You will LOVE it! And we have the T45-RS FREE SHIPPING promotion to a commercial address in the 48 states.
Free commercial shipping?? I wasn't aware of this. Does this go along with the $150 discount for forum members?? If so, I will soon be a very happy camper.

Hi Shafi,
Please check my math for the T45-RS: with free shipping to forum members and the $250 discount for auto to standard conversion, the total would be around $3500? Any chance of a group discount for all of us who are planning this as our major winter project?
Thanks
Todd
Question about the 6 month warranty: when does it start?? My car, as of the end of this week, will be off the road for Winter. Not insured for the road until next April. Can the warranty be delayed??
I put one in my 69 a few months ago and it is awesome! The install was over the course of several months, when I could find time to get in the garage. It is a straightfoward install and nothing too tricky. It shifts better and better each time I take it out. It was a little stiff at first, but is nice and smooth now. The gear spreads really make it launch nice from a stoplight and get up to speed quicker than the muncie. In 5th, the RPM's drop for easy highway motoring. It really was worth the price of admission.
