Replacing spindle mount

You have to replace the bearing support( part shock mount goes through). This will require removing the spindle so figure on replacing bearings, new or old. You're better off removing the arm from the car and breaking it down.

Yea, it is out of the car. I guess I will just start tearing it apart. So I could not just remove the bearing, and then put it back in and re pack the grease? I don't see why I would need new ones, but I am just learning about the rear end of these cars.

The bearings are very touchy and require a close tolerance set-up. The spindle, the carrier and the 2 sets of bearing plus shims all come into play. Not really a job for grasshoppers at Vette mechanicing.
