Default Side Pipe install on a 71

spent the weekend pulling headers, hanging manifolds all in an effort to install side pipes.

The Passenger side is looking very good;

The driver side is not looking so good;

The question is, can I heat and bend, or should I send the thing back...came from Allen's exhaust, but I will become very impatient waiting for it.

and just for stopping by a Ford GT with a luggage rack on a hitch.

I'd say Allen gets a "F" in bending on that one. Heat might work, but the risk of collapsing the pipe will be there too.

The GT-40 guy only has a cooler- I'd suspect loaded with beer. (If it was mine that's what I'd do.)

If you have the ability to do it yourself then thats what I'd do or let them know of your problem and maybe they could send you (EXPRESS) the proper pipe, but as a thought, I guess you have tried to loosen the pipe at the manifold and move it into a position that lines up better, its either do it yourself or take it someplace where they could cut and weld for a better fit, good luck. Peace,,,Moosie

You seem to have a big block, the '68-'69 BB side pipes are different on the driver side from the '70-'74 ones, so maybe Allen sent you a '68-'69 pipes instead of the correct '70-'74.

I have a set of side pipes that I got from Allen's which was on my '71 BB, I can take a picture of the driver's side pipe if that may help you.

a picture would help thanks!...he asked which manifold I have, and I gave him that number...if I get the angle right, the thing sticks out the side of the car way to far...I will continue to mess with it.

looks like I got a pipe for a 69 manifold...why was the 427 left side manifold different then the 454 left side?
