78 Turn signal switch replacement
Last time I worked on a "project" like this for almost two days...I went on line and in 15 minutes had 3 remedies to the problem I was experiencing ..and used them to fix the problem in 1/2 hour!
I also have a back up light issue. I reset the neutral switch at the manual trans...and the first time I use the back up lights, driving the car, the switch remains "closed" and lights stay on. I don't think the switch is bad....it works up on the lift perfectly....strange.
The reason I suggest a spare switch is that a lot of suppliers may not allow you to return a purchased switch if it is removed from its original packaging. This will allow you to determine if the problem is the switch itself and whether or not you should spend the time and effort purchasing a new one.
The following turn signal switches are available from GM dealers: GM #1997984 or GM #1997988. Either switch will work. Purchase whichever is available and/or cheaper. You will find that the ..7984 switch has some extra wires for cornering lights. You don't have cornering lights but the switch should snap right into your vehicle harness with the the cornering light wires just not connecting to anything. Other Corvette suppliers have switches available as well.
If you need to replace the switch, I have complete instructions.
