Default Cat Blood Etched Clearcoat?

Anyone ever have cat blood get on their car before?
I know this is an odd question, so a little back ground. My neighbor, who is 84, who I bought my house from, is a really nice old guy. I really like him, the only problem I have is that he loves to feed the stray cats around here, and the stray cats love to live under my shed in the back, and they love to jump on the corvette.
Well one of them is always getting into fights and apparently always losing, so he jumped on the vette, while bleeding, and got blood on the hood.
Since I am taking it to get the fender fixed and painted I didn't think much of it.
However, when I washed it to take it to the shop, I noticed all these new spots on the hood, in about the area he bled. And I cleaned it, scrubbed, waxed it, just to find that these areas are etched past the clearcoat.
I am not saying for sure this is the case, it's just awfully suspicious seeing as how they weren't there before, and while we do have terrible water, it isnt acidic, and it hasn't rained on the car as it was under my carport.
And yeah, I've asked him to stop feeding the cats before, he said he would, just to find out later he's hiding the food in a spot. I'm at my wits end and I dont want to go ball the guy out, but I am getting close to the end of my rope. I called animal control and they set a trap, but the guy would constantly set it off so they never got caught. At this point he only leaves me an option I really dont want to do.
Anyone else have any experience with this before? I would get a car cover, but I'm afraid the cats would jump on there and want to sharpen their claws and scratch it even more.

Hah, I can't say I haven't thought about it myself. Sometimes I feel I'm being forced into doing that actually.
But they're just animals, they don't know any better.
It's just damn, he started with 2 cats, now he has about 15. It's gotten out of control.

well i am hoping for an upper middle management position. high enough that i can do some torturing but not so high that its my fault if something goes wrong.

but blood is will go acidic once it dies off so i can see where it would etch.

Oh cats know... those things are the devil incarnate. They intentionally mess with people for kicks. My wife's 26 lbs. cat Gizmo, (I call him fata$$) is the smartest (and most evil) animal that I have ever met. He is an expert at getting his way (hence the 26lbs.) and getting attention.

Mommy and Daddy asleep? Meow really loud, shake the blinds, and jump on their chests suffocating them with your fatness.

Hungry and mad that you've been on a diet of half a cup a day twice a day for two years? Eat the dog food when everyone goes to sleep.

Too fat to fit in your litter box or just too lazy to walk all the way in? Crap on the floor right in front of it.

Mommy and Daddy shut the door for some private time? Reach up and rattle the door handle and meow really loud till they open the door then run off.

Want to ruin a great moment? Jump up on Daddy's lap while he's sitting on the toilet.

Want to really **** Mommy or Daddy off? Go chew on Daddy's ties or eat Mommy's shoestrings.

If you tamper with the food supply, blood on the clear coat will seem minor. As mentioned, these animals are the devil's minions.

I wonder if there was something mixed in with the blood too, like saliva from another critter? is there enough clear left to color sand out the blem?

15 cats, .... video recorder, and call county animal control with your video.
they will respond to 15 cats, and warn the guy feeding them,
if he continues (Video camera) they will fine him.
you already asked him nicely, time to take the gloves off.

Personally I would get a good size dog, reward him for chasing cats !
Double reward for catching them !

Ah! great advice. I use .22lr Shot Shells in my puppy killer to hunt packrats around the premises.

The Shot shells literally make less noise than a cough when run through the can. Over penetration and spalling are never an issue.

I really can't believe this is in the TECH/PERFORMANCE section but here we go:

Cats despise anything citrus. Lemon verbena--the most commonly known of the anti-cat plants, but if you go to a good nursery they should have other plants that smell lemony. I've seen lemon tarragon, lemon mint, etc. Also, you might cut up a few lemons and toss them about your yard
You can also cut up Habanero peppers and sprinkle them around places you don't won't the cats to hang out.
Other suggestion: http://tinyurl.com/kqhmd3
As far as the old guy? He's just lonely...
Can't believe some of you guys suggest anti-freeze just because you THINK cat blood got his clear coat.
Maybe you should ask to help the old guy sometimes.

I wouldn't judge too quickly.

Up north here, I have same problem with feral cats. If they're owned, they have no visible ID; chipped? Won't know until the autopsy, er, scan.

Hmmn, everything sounds right up to the silencer part. "Why no Mr. ATF agent. I do NOT possess a Class III license. Why?"

Again, the issue is the discharging of firearms in city limits thingie if caught. Otherwise, I've been tempted.

As an aside, I found critters in my live trap I hadn't intended; mostly a skunk. Yikes! Now what? (thanks internet. found answer and was successful in him/her not discharging THEIR weapon of mass stinky upon release from cage. Heh-heh!)

Otherwise, the intended units took a ride out to the farm with a message to find their way home now. It was a tiny bit more civil and I haven't seen them back, using my yard as their toilet or killing field. The local birdies sing freely now.

To the OP, hope you can find a reasonable method to rid the apparent bloodstains from the clearcoat. Your post has been very informative to explain a possible cause. I did not know to consider?

You could possibly buff out the damaged areas. Maybe try some 3M finesse it! This stuff works real well.

On the other suggestions. . . OMG, I’ve not had this good of a laugh since the Jackson jokes started flying.

Your reminding me of my youth, my best friend lived on a ranch, they had all the requisite animals including cats for rodent control. My friend's older brother had just had his 59 Impala 2 door wagon painted and a cat scratched the hood (less than 2 week old paint job), his brother went into a rage ran to the house, grabbed a 410Ga shotgun and "eliminated" his paint problem right then and there. My friend's remark: Look! the kitty is getting lead poisioning! I guess you had to have been there to get the humor of this story

damn, someone beat me to the chinese food line.

I agree with the dog sentiment. If I were near you I'd bring mine over, and you'd be cat free in about a week.

They sell products in pet or garden stores that is a cat replant. Some types are chemical, others are lings like dried blood or hot peppers. They work pretty well.

Or, put some live animal traps near your vette.

Lastly, if he doesnt stop putting food out, the cats arent going to stop coming. you'll be bringing a car load of cats to the local shelter every week (where they'll probably be put down). So you really have to stop the guy from feeding them or train your dogs to be better hunters.
