I had this problem a couple of years ago when my neighbor a retired widow who works at 9 lives cat shelter brought sickly cats home and nursed them back to health i noticed paw prints on my hood and light scratches in the clear coat so i bought a German Shepard and it was amazing how quickly this remedied the problem!!!! i actually witnessed him snuff one in my back yard. along with squirrels and i know this is bad but one of those goofy awkward crane birds that use to hang out by my pond.... p.s. i believe that these cats are truly the most evil creatures along with mosquitoes ever to roam this earth!!!!!!

Default cats

I have no love for cats but why not offer to help the old guy catch them and give him a cause (finding suitable homes for them) win / win gives the old dude something to do besides feeding the strays and gets them off your property. If that doesn't work I like the dog idea Lots of luck to ya....

Let me guess you also like to dress up at night in a white gown and take your dog coon hunting. Fork me, how ridiculous this thread has gotten !

Buy the Scat Mat.

http://www.safepetproducts.com/

This is an interesting conversation in that my wife is a tree hugger and has 6 outside cats and 1 dog. Not a big deal since we live in the country but the cats are hell on my 79's relatively new paint. Given I'm an avid hunter, the ONLY reason I don't resort to the 22 solution mentioned above is for the love of my wife of more than 27 years.

Anyways the Scat Mat really works.

I hate the evil, lazy, vindictive, worthless SOB's.
Find a farmer that has some nematodicide. Antifreeze causes 'em to die a slow, painful death which I really don't wish on 'em in spite of the fact that I hate 'em. The nematodicide that my buddy uses smells like a spice. Mix with canned cat food, they'll eat it like a dog eats baloney. They won't make it 10 steps, it's very quick and painless. Not as much fun as a .22, but it'll get a swarm of 'em at once.

Yea, fork you, with the KKK jokes, everybody knows they don't hunt cats.

A real coon hunter wears a flannel shirt and overalls, that is if he wears a shirt at all.

Just be aware if you are seen killing someones pet you can get in rather serios trouble. We had a spate of pet poisonings in my neighborhood some time back. Turned out it was the antisocial guy at the end of the block. His complaint the cats crapped inhis yard and the dogs barked too much. Don't know how much time he got but it wernt pretty.

Problem is too many people are just aholes who can't take responsibility for their pets or even their children for that matter.

I know this prolly won't work in your situation, but my wife has a cat she "adopted" that likes to hang out on top of the car. ( I don't mind just one..keeps the mice away here in the country). One day I walked out and there it was on top of the car and I thought ...ok puss...you like the car so much....lets go for a ride. Grabbed the cat, put it in the car with the windows up, and took it for a good old "clean the carbon off the valves" kind of ride. When I got home I let the cat out, and it hasn't gone near the car ever since.

Just like most animal problems, the problem isn't with the animal, but with people. There are some great solutions in this thread, notwithstanding the ones involving typical redneck bravado. I am from Georgia and have cats before you come after me. I am sure you would all love it if your pet were poisoned with anti-freeze or shot full of lead. Makes you real proud to be part of a forum full of such deep thinkers. Fix the people problem and the animal problem will go away, and none need to get hurt.

Oh and I have seen great bumper sticker which said. "I love cats, they taste like chicken"

People is the solution, but it takes a lot to get their attention.

I got sick of opening my front door and getting a strong smell of cat ****. Cat owners around here think they can just let them roam wild.

Bought a trap cage and trap them and take them to the county animal control. Totally legal. Neighbor saw me with one of her cats, called the cops, and ended up being warned that feeding strays is illegal. If they want the cats back, they pay a hefty fee and must pay to have them neutered and licensed. No more cats around my house and it smells much better too.

I never did let my 2 shepherds run loose.

Indeed, I think it iportant to remember that many think of their pets as members of the family, I've seen kids and adults alike brought to a river a tears when a pet had to be put down. I would hope that no-one here would derive pleasure from putting a kid through that. Also, there are probably a fair number of pet owners out there that would just as soon burn a persons house down with them AND thier car in it, should it come out that their pet was murdered.

trap the animal legally and do it legally or protect your vehicle with the necessary covers or keep the car in a secured garage.

My Persian cat Gizmo is a member of my family. That is why he is declawed, neuterd and never outdoors. Other, so called pet lovers, let their animals roam because they are to lazy to take care of them.

I had one dip**** woman, 2 houses away, tell me her cat could not be house broken and her husband did not want it in the house. When I asked her about putting a litter box in her empty 2 car garage, she said her husband would not allow it. WTF, why have a pet when it is not allowed in the house??? Don't give me that SH*T that cats have to go outside to hunt, because of their instinct. Every see those happy, well fed, LARGE cats at a zoo? They keep trying to get out so they can hunt. RIGHT! Take care of you indoor pet and it will not need to roam the neighborhood.

I have, on occasion, put a pellet into a couple of feral cats my other neighbor chose to feed and let live under his porch. When I compalained to him he said he did not control them and they were not his cats.

I once had a stray black cat (female) who I would feed. She would sleep atop my xjs convertible at night (guess she knew it was a Jaguar) and sometimes on the roof of the Corvette. I once had the Corvette's passenger door opened and she jumped in and walked around in the car to check it out. After waking up from a nap on the Jaguar or Corvette, she would stretch while extending her claws (she did not scratch up the top or the paint on the Vette) I remember once she was sitting on the trash can and I went over to her and bowed my head and she touched it with her paw as if she were blessing me. Whenever I would get into either vehicle she would not hop off of the roof until I reach the end of the driveway. Normally I do not like cats but she grew on me and I have a boatload of pictures of her on my cars. I miss that kitty.
