Default Half shaft question

I am getting my ujoints replaced today and the shafts balanced. I marked each shaft for drivers side, passenger side, and marked it to match the differential yokes. However I realized when I dropped them off that the mark on the PS to the diff yoke was gone. If I am getting them balanced will the mark be needed or am I fubar? Your advice is greatly appreciated.

no need to balance 1/2 shafts, they never were done. It won't hurt but don't go crazy trying to figure out which one goes where.

half shaft are not big enough or turn fast enough to need balancing. Either shaft can go on either side, in either direction.

If you get them balanced, they will be 'better' than ours. However, none of us may be able to determine that from the "seat of our pants". It certainly can't hurt anything....except the wallet.

Yeah, $32 for all four ujoints (remove and install the spicers) and $60 to balance both shafts (I had already dropped them at the shop before any responses). At least I have some confidence that any problems I have won't come from them!

The real question is how are they going to balance those shafts? Will they add weight at the appropriate spots...or will they remove material? Removing material in the wrong area could set up a stress riser or weaken the part. [just mullin' it over... ]
