Hey I have torn out the dash and all in my 77 Corvette and i have noticed a problem. When i used the vacuum switch to change blowing locations the vacuum acuators didnt work. When i tried to remove my vacuum switch it broke. I dont know if maybe it was just the switch worn out or maybe another problem. I ordered a new switch and it should be in this week. I was just wondering if anyone else had any thoughts of what it may be. Thanks
That should solve all of your problems.I replaced mine and it was good as new. Make sure that you really snug up the vacuum block and get those 2 round "clips" snugged up as close as you can to eliminate any leaks...The new switch is a different design and looks to be of way better quality.
Little tip- a touch of KY Jelly on the connector will help it seal to the new valve. And get it on tight like Jeff suggests. Vaseline will work, but it'll attack the rubber. KY won't.
My vacumn switch on my 77 leaked also. They are cheap enough from Willcox. After I put my new switch in I borrowed the A/Z vacumn pump and checked all the actuators while I had the dash apart.
hey i got the new switch in and replaced it and the ac still didnt work. so i started digging around and found a couple of broken vacuum lines. i couldnt find out where they went so i just t-ed of the line that comes off of the carb. works now. does anyone know when the little actuator by the kick panel on the passenger side is suppose to work.
Do you know [for certain] that the vacuum input line to that switch actually had vacuum on it? That is the first thing to check. That line could be blocked, pinched, cut, etc. so that the switch doesn't even get vacuum in the first place.
