The current engine in my 1969 427 is a 1973 454 with a spun bearing. I have been debating rebuilding or replacing. This seems like a cost effective solution. Any thoughts on the engine below? Anything to watch out for? I plan on using my intake manifold, original to the car and purchasing a new carb and ignition system. Thanks. Russ

I hear what you are saying. I am trying to contact prior buyers from this guy on similar engines to get some feedback.

 

Cresco Motorsports? I did a search on google and didn't come up with anything. I am not familiar with any of the engine builders though. The guys feedback is near perfect and the engine does have "a 12 month conditional , unlimited mile warranty ". I would find out what "conditional" meant though. "Power rating for this ideal combination of carefully selected parts is between 425 and 450 horsepower and torque" - sounds like it would be an improvement over the 73's engine. Good luck!

It sounds like it was assembled using the "right" parts. But the only way a buyer will know for sure is to disassemble the engine to check that you got what you paid for. "Clevite bearings," for example. How are you going to know that you got those bearings unless you strip the engine?

I, too, would like to know what a "conditional" guarantee consists of.
