Default Shock Absorbers for my c3

In your opinion or from experience, who makes the best shock absorbers for a c3? I know I'm not going to get a much smoother ride because that's how the vette was built but I'm just looking for the best all around shocks for around 200 dollars.

I completly rebuilt the entire suspension on my 71 Coupe and used Koni shocks. Very happy with them.

in my opinion...

if you're asking this question and wanting better suspension response,
just get:

Bilstein Sport shocks
VB&P mono composit rear spring
550# front springs

drive happy

OregonVette80, which rear spring matches up with the 550 fronts?

My 78 L-82 4 speed came with the gymkhana/F-41 suspension and is completely rebuilt with 550 front springs (1 inch shorter than stock in height) and a composite 360 rear spring. I have had Delco, KYB gas a just, Koni oils, and Bilstein Heavy Duties and the Sports. I currently run Bilstein HD's in the front with the 550 springs and Bilstein Sports (30% stiffer than the HD's in the back) with the 360 spring. By far, the Bislteins are the best compromise between ride and handling. The Bilstein HD's will actually make the ride MUCH better than OEM type shocks. I also have a 1994 Mustang GT convertible that used to ride real choppy with the OEM shocks and I changed to Bilstein Heavy Duties with no other changes and the ride is really quite nice now (no choppiness at all) and handles better! Go Bilstein!!

Since you said the best shock absorber, then you want Koni. Yep, they are pricey, but that is because they are manufactured precisely to very close tolerances. You should expect at least 100,000 from a set, and probably more. They are adjustable too. My 2¢.

i have the VBP street slalom with 550 coils in front 360 mono sprin g in the rear and bilstein all around wow it is great!!!

but as you stated in your post your budget is 200.00 so i guess for that amount go with the AC delco.
