I have a 1968 coupe that has worn out headlight accuators. I've been able to turn the headlights on and raise the doors by hand. The lights and doors would always turn off and close when pushing in the light switch. Well this past weekend the right door closed but the left stayed open and won't budge. The asemblies are in good shape.. any suggestions how to get the door to close without breaking something!!! Thanks
You can manually close the light by lying on your back in front of the car and reaching above the headlight linkage and pulling down on one of the assembly linkage rods. This will collapse the assembly and allow the light to close.
Hi M68,
I believe the piece of the headlight mechanism you need to pull on to get the door to release and started on the way down is shaped like a 'knee' and is simply called 'link' in the AIM. You do reach up from below, as H suggested, to get to it.
It sounds like your actuators need to have new seals put in them. You can do this job and the venders sell the seals.

Alan
