So I just installed a set of hooker sidepipes on my 74 vette. The sidetubes aren't on, just the headers. The drivers side is about 1 to 2 inches lower than the passenger side. The passenger side is rubbing slightly on the bottom of the body. Any ideas?

Check the motor mounts and if that isn't it check the body mounts.
Yes motor mounts and/or body mounts... try to measure from a common point on the engine (top of the heads to the frame rails or similar) and see if there's any difference
so it seems now that it is a side to side difference rather than an up and down. One side is about an inch further out than the other. Rear motor mount?

We have the same problem. Mine's been that way for over 10 years. Always heard 'cause the body isn't on the frame straight and it isn't unusual for a vette. If I ever get to changng the body mounts, probably try to straighten things out.
Also had to trim the inside fenders on the driver's side when I put 255's on my '71 so they wouldn't rub so much.
Mine's just the opposite. My driver side sticks out further than the passenger. Rocker panel drops right in on drivers side, but on passenger side, the header nearly touches the body!
I plan on trying to move the engine in the mounts before I cut up the rocker panels.

Don't see how one could move the engine in the mounts w/o cutting, grinding and welding........
On the rocker panel side of things....I left off the rocker panels (after I already had cut them up some time ago to fit the first set of chrome- have powder coated now) and painted the area flat black. Something to think about if you might like the look.

Did you change anything to fix the up and down issue? The motor is not centered in the car. Its set to the passenger side about 1.5", not sure but I would think that Hooker would have adjusted for this. I didn't have this issue with mine but I'm running a BB so It may be different.
