Ooops.. I had a cheap Mr. Gasket dress up valve cover bolt snap flush with the head from tightening by hand even. Im... a little less than impressed with these things at this point now. lol.
Whats the easiest way to back this thing out? Hoping I dont have to go get a tap&die set..
If it is broken flush with the head, you are going to have to drill it, and use an "easy out" tool to remove it. May have to retap the threads if your drilling messes it up. Good luck.
Try using something with a sharp tip like an ice pick. With the valve cover and gasket removed, see if you can get the point of the tool to catch on an uneven part of the broken bolt. Push in a counter-clockwise direction so the bolt screws out. I have done it this way successfully when the bolt isn't stuck in the hole.

It takes a little finesse but you can use a small hammer and tap the ice pick also. I have screwed out many bolts this way.
