Default problem with an innova timing light

Innova 5568 dial back has an erratic flash at idle, goes black when the rpm's are increased. I've changed the position of the pickup on the wire, wiggled it around the plug wire, changed it to a different wire, all to no avail.
Thing's too expensive to throw away, anybody got any ideas?

I can't find them online and, of course, all the paperwork is long gone.
Got a website or phone # ?

Thanks a lot.

Same with my 5568.
And I live and Europe, and bought in USA, so I can throw it away, and buy a new (again!!)
