Has anyone added one? I see Jegs sells one with two four inch tubes that extend about 42 inches or so. Was thinking of routing them to the windshield cowl ares as some say its a good source of cold(outside) air.....Thoughts????
Yes - the cowl area is a source of high pressure, but unless you have an L-88 hood, how can you pick up the air there? I'd go for an area on either side of the radiator up front.
There is another way to do this albeit expensive. You could use 1973-74 cowl induction. You will need a hood with open grille and an air cleaner assembly.
There is a flapper on the cowl, operated by an electrical solenoid triggered by WOT at the gas pedal (a switch). Remove the flapper assembly with solenoid and you will have a constant flow of cool air to the carb through the cowl grille. It works. In fact the flow of air can be heard even at idle.
The rubber ring on the air cleaner housing seals against the hood and ensures that the cool air from the grille reaches the carb.
This is the air passageway, cowl grille to air cleaner housing.
