Default water pump rebuild

Hi

Where can I find a BB water pump rebuild kit ?
Any instruction sheet available how to do this ?

Reason is for not to scrap a date correct pump.

I wonder if you could just buy a reman pump,. gut it and put your old parts back in it, and the new parts in yours, then return the 'new' pump for the core?

Hi

I got told that everything is pressed in.
By dismantling a pressed together pump , one might damage the seals, bearings etc.
I really prefer getting a rebuild kit if available.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1965-...Q5fAccessories

It says, no instruction sheet with the kit .

I will contact the seller accordingly.

Howard Stewart 336-476-9834

This is the guy that started Stewart Pumps and sold it a few years ago. Probably the most respected water pump expert in the country.

Pumps are brought up to new specs and gives a lifetime warantee.

If You still want to do it yourself You don't need any Kit at all. Just go to any Bearing House in whatever City Your in and they can provide You with a replacemet Bearing and Seal. They probably have it on the Shelf. This way You can also control what Brand Name goe's into Your Pump and not whatever is the Cheapest that the rebuilders are useing this week. Any major Autoparts Store should be able to do the same. Only problem is You will probably have to disasemble it to get the Bearing and Seal Number first. The Howard Steward sounds like a good Option.

Hi

Thanks so much for all help, specially for the how to rebuild article.

In the article, ZIP is mentioned to offer the kit as well. I have good experience with ZIP, they seem to use good manufacturers.

Sending it to a rebuilder is not a very good option for me being overseas.
Possible, but with the shipping costs becomes kind of expensive.

This forum rocks. You guys are the best.

Did you ever rebuild your water pump? Just wondering what torque to use on the rear plate bolts.
