Need an educated opinion
I just recently purchased a 1981 Vette. Next year I want to pep up the engine a bit. Headers, free-flow cat conv., cylinders bored out 30 over, street cam kit, competition valve cut on heads and flow master mufflers.
Does this combination sound like it would work? And would I need any additional upgraded parts like an oil pump, fuel pump, etc. I still want to use regular gas.
I want to keep the stock Quadrajet as well as keeping a functional "Check Engine" lite. I don't want a whole lot of exhaust noise or too much of a rocky idle. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
And does anyone know where I can get a light bulb/socket assembly for above the center console gauges cluster? There are two wires screwed into the top of the cluster - one is a ground and the other one gets hot when the parking lights are turned on.
Thanks much.
Jeff

Some details on the trans, diff ratio and your budget would help with a cam choice and drive the head choice.
No oil pump or fuel pump mods needed, stock if fine.
Do a minimum bore and maybe go with flat top pistons, stock is dished for low compression.
New timing chain kit and a crane 114122 cam kit with lifters and pushrods
If ya want to get a lil more nuts throw in some 1.5 roller rockers
