Default Exhaust help...

My 75 L82 4 speed was running great but part of the exhaust fell apart due to rust last week. I got a new system with 2.5" pipes and Magnaflows. I have one side on so far and the car drives like a truck. Throttle response is not nearly as good as it was. I didn't realize that the old system was 2" - maybe I should have got that.

Anyway, what can I do to bring back performance with the freer flowing exhaust???

Thanks for any help!

i changed mine to 2.5 stainless and mangaflows and they are great. it is possible that the other side you have not changed has a clogged cat. once you are done it will be awesome.

Thanks Larry. It already had dual exhaust without cats but hopefully you are right that it will be better once both sides are on.

Have you tried retuning your engine?

Not yet, although not exactly sure what would be needed.

Doesn't a larger diameter exhaust raise the torque curve? I'm thinking by about 500 rpms.

If you still have 2" pipe & a stock muffler on one side I bet this is the problem. I had a 2" duel system on mine before I went with the 2 1/2" Magnaflow set-up, and the Vette has never run better. I didn't have to adjust anything........
