Default L81 intake manifold question

I have a 1981 with the L81 Engine. A few years ago, when having the ECM Carb replaced with one from a 1980 corvette, the mechanic cracked the original Aluminum intake manifold and replaced it with an intake from a 1975 corvette. I have also installed Headers, X-pipe and Magnaflow mufflers. The Car runs great. My winter project is going to be cleaning up the engine compartment. As part of that I want to go back to the correct Aluminum Intake look. I have been offered an original 1981 aluminum intake from a club member. Question – should I use the original 1981 intake or go with an aftermarket? If so – which one.

Unless you are significantly improving airflow with some better heads and camshaft, you have nothing to gain with an aftermarket intake manifold swap. I'd go back to the '81 intake just to save some weight over the nose, though.

The L-81 intake was made by edelbrock. Just buy a new one. Same thing.

Thanks for the input Because the orginal cracked - I was told due to age, I think I will go with a new Edelbrock to be safe.

Thanks again.
