you need to click it but the car is a 1974 stingray and as far as the vin goes if I read it right it is an l-48 with an automatic transmission if there is any other info you need let me know

but it looks like jim-bob got a hold of it and kind of did what ever they could to get the wire to stay

The giveaway is going to be where that wire runs to. It's not anything the factory installed.

Ok so I got a few closer pics and I also followed the wire it seems to either go to the front of the car or to a plug looking thing in the firewall
here are the pics

in this one the wire is the blue butt splice

In this one I follow the wire bunched with some other wires

In this photo the group of wires go into the firewall

I think it might be a temp sensor if anything where does the original heater hose go from that part of the engine and where is the temp sensor

The green wire is for the temp sensor located in the driver's side head between #1 and #3 cylinders. The sensor may still be there.

Given where the orange blob is located I take it that that car does not have a heater....

No idea if it has a heater or not because I think the blower is either busted or not hooked up but what I need to do it just first things first just buy the new wire harness for the engine and hook everything up nice and neat maybe even buy the dash wiring harness to be safe and then go into where that heater hose goes and try and get everything hooked up right I will also check that sensor between one and three

I think Joe was meaning get rid of all rubber tubing between fuel pump and carb. The filter in the carb is more than adequate.

2 choices, (well 3 if you count possibly burning the car to the ground) Get a pre-bent line from one of the vendors, install a new filter in the carb and go with that, or (my choice) make a new line from the pump to the carb and install an inline AN fiting type fuel filter in that. The inline filters have more capacity that the one in the carb so they won't plug as fast if you get a load of bad fuel. But as paul 74 stated, the filter in the carb is plenty.

This is job #1. I'd keep the old Vette parked until you get the fuel line & wiring straight...

Bubba might of held a class here once by the looks of things......
