On my '69. Does anyone have experience with the aftermarket original style replacements? I'll probably go with a Grant or something for now, since I've always wanted to toy around with the wheel size and positioning. Still, I need an original replacement.

When I bought my 70 the steering wheel was broken also. It was broken at the top of the T on both sides. The previous owner had fixed it using the best thing ever, duct tape.
The first repair I made to the car was to buy a replacement wheel. I got mine at Rik's corvettes. Looked just like a stocker. I replaced it eventually with a later model wheel from an 80 or so.
I just changed my steering wheel (71 coupe with stock wheel) to Ecklers mahogney with leather on chrome spokes . I was a little worried about the look and feel , I like the stock look . Now , I love the look and especially the feel of the new 14" wheel . I think you'll really like a nice black or wood grain 14" wheel .
Not really, it was bent when I got the car, and it broke exactly as described, right at the "T" on both sides. It's still in one piece, but now it is "flexible"! I'm a big guy (6'2" 210 lbs.), and with the sidepipes I used the wheel to exit the car so as not to leave skin attached to the pipes
I like the look of the late-model wheel and the price is great. Does it fit directly to the earlier cars? Thanks for photos...
