Default fuel sending unit question for Wilcox

I replaced the sending unit on my 73 with one from Advance Auto about 3 years ago (shame on me I know). I noticed a gas smell in the garage and there was a puddle by the tank. Where the wire comes out for the gage it was dripping. when I removed the sending unit the connection was held on by a push ring. It loosened up and gas was leaking around the small seal on the post. Is this the same type of fastener used on your sending units, and what is the warranty on yours? I know it it not a high cost item, but it would sure be a pain the the butt to replace every 3 years

Pete:

I'm sorry, I've been under the weather for the past few days.

I'm not sure about what fastener is used on our sending unit, but we have not had a problem with ours leaking. Our unit has a one year warranty, but I really don't think this will play in to it. The unit you purchased was it the Current Delco replacement unit? If so Delco has a problem with the unit and this seems to be an on going problem for them.

I doubt you'll have a problem with our unit and if you do.... I'll be here!

Sorry to hear you have not been feeling well. Since your reputation is so high here on the forum I ordered a unit from you on Wednesday just waiting for it to come in.

It is on the bottom on the passenger side. I know the overflow tube is on that side also and it comes down from the top. Mine will leak from there if I fill it up on a warm day and let it sit with out running any gas out

Been know to do that myself. You did not say what year your vet is. I am not sure where the sending units are on the later models, I know the price jumps up a lot so it may be a different location.
