I plan on using one likely from Keisler, and I am wondering what ring and pinion those of you who have one are running. Also wich trans and overdrive ratio do you have? Initially I am considering the TKO 600 with .64 O.D. and 4.56:1 gears, or the .82 with 4.10:1 gears. This car will likely be driven on weekends, and I want it to be fast, not economical. Any input is welcome!
It really all depends on the whole package. What rpm's is your engine happy at, where's your power band, how do you drive, etc? I've build my 427 to have power fairly high in the power band and I spin it up to 7k rpm when I'm having fun. I also like to make an occasional pass at the track. I'm running 4.33 rear and the .64 od TKO-600. So far very happy with it. What size rear tires do you have? Mine are close to 28" tall.

That is the questions you need to ask yourself and answer for us to be able to determine which setup would be best.
Keep in mind, a 4.56 rear gear and a 2.87 1st gear is going to leave you with a 4 speed overdrive as 1st gear will be utterly useless.
Ideally, you want the rear gear ratio x 1st gear ratio of transmission to equal a 10. With a 4.56 x 2.87 = 13.08. IF you get traction it will launch like a GSXR 1000RR off the line but you will be shifting as soon as you let the clutch out.

I am still very much in the planning stages. I would like to run a 17 inch wheel with a 35 to 40 series tire, and I have been playing with the calculator on keisler's web site. I compared these set ups with another build i have completed. That build consisted of a TCI 700 R-4 (.70 O.D.) and 3.73:1 ring and pinion on 225/50-15 tires. I would like to be a bit shorter in the final drive ratio on the corvette. I'm leaning toward the .64 O.D. with 4.10:1 ring and pinion. I would really appreciate any input regarding setups people have used. I suppose I should have also asked about tire size and profile as well .
I'm running the original TKO (3.27:1 1st gear, 0.68:1 5th). My rear gears are 3.08 and it works perfectly. But then I have a 454 BBC with a wide torque curve.

I will likely be speaking with someone about this before I place and order! Thanks Richard, and everyone else for the response!
take your time on research here...important stuff....what is your power curve.....you should pick the tranny around the curve especially the od number....my bb is the 288 with the .82 od and a 336 rear.....2200 rpm is around 74 mph in od.....good luck...

I am leaning toward the GMPP ZZ 383 crate motor. Looks like it makes peak horsepower around 4400 RPM.

that should cruise at around 1800-2200 rpm.....i would pick the 288 low and the o82 od with a 355 rear, that should give you around a 10-1 low gear......good luck....

I run the Keisler .64 OD with a 3.7 rear and a ZZ4 crate motor.
A 4.11 or 4.56 would be way too much IMO for most road use. My set up is perfect for Autocross. Haven't been to the strip yet, but, the old Muncie 4 spd had similar ratios and dragged great.
350 SBC, TKO-5, 3:55 rear and it is perfect for autoX and light track events like HPDE and Track days. btw... I can roast the tires as damnear long as I want to (or as much rubber as I feel like wasting). I know it's of no consideration for you but fwiw... at 70mph, I'm around 1700-1900 rpms, getting 18-24 mpg. It's great for long cruises to the coast.
Anyway... that's my set-up and it really works well.

I've got almost the exact setup you are looking into. I've got a zz383 with a tko600 with the .64 overdrive and 4.56 gears. I've got 275/60-r15 tires which are 28 inches tall though. I like it for just driving around, but you do whip through first pretty fast when you get on it. It is better to start off in 2nd at that point since it is more like other cars' first. However, it is great for getting a little sideways around turns and such! 3rd gear is lots of fun and very useful around town. If I was starting from scratch I might have considered doing 3.73 instead of the 4.56 which came with the car and do the .82 overdrive and then use 255/60-r15 tires. That'll give a similar feel for 5th gear but make first much more useable. Also, the jump from 4 to 5 with a .64 overdrive is a bit steep.
I am driving a 6 speed T56 with 2.66/1.78/1.30/1.00/.74/.50 gears
versus the original M21 having 2.20/1.64/1.28/1.00 gears with a 4.11 rear end.
This brings the first gear for me perfect ( great for acceleration and even better for slow driving during car meetings etc , and makes the 6th gear usable at speeds above 80 MPH.
My L71 likes to cruise at not below 2000 RPM.
The M21 was installed to a 3.70 rear end and 1st gear was not drivable for me . For slow driving ( stop & go ), I had to slip the clutch and after a while it,s no fun anymore to the clutch leg.
The T56 1st gear is much better and now with the 4.11 rear even better. Otherwise, the M21 had the same ratios up to 4th gear, what I wanted to keep ( + the extra overdrives ).
Don,t be too scared of having 1st gear ratio above 10:1.
If I would not have taken the T56, the TKO600 with the .65 5th gear would have been my next choice .
