weather stripping question

weather stripping question
i ordered the assembly manual on cd from willcox but is not here yet
i have a question on the wetherstrip piece that seals the rear of the door glass their where rivits in this piece and i drilded them out
when putting new stripe in do i rivit it back on and the lower rivit doesnt seem to have anything to do with this piece of w/ stripping
can anybody give me some info on this taking weatherstripping off of the car so i can start to get it ready for paint.

Hi K,
In 71 the metal retainer is fastened to the body with 2 rivets.
The bottom of the weatherstrip has 1 'pop' type rivet that runs through the weatherstrip from the outside, and then through the fiberglass below the metal retainer.
