So I finally removed one of my headlight retaining rings after using a dremel to turn the rusty and stripped phillips head screws into standard heads. Problem is that only two out of three tabs are still attached to the ring.
Can I somehow reattach the third tab, or should I toss it and buy a replacement?
I'll need to replace the screws too, but I'm sure those can be found at the hardware store, right?
you can get the screws from most of the vett parts vendors, Zip, Ecklers, Corvette America etcc.
The ring tabs are spot welded to the ring, if oyu have the tab and access to a spot welder you can fix it, if not the same vendors have the rings
Spot welds on these parts SUCK! if you are on a budget, use stainless steel pop-rivets to re-attach the "L" piece to the ring, otherwise ring can be bought for $8 at a Corvette vendor. Screws are threseded but, you can use sheet metal screws if holes are stripped or in bad shape.
