Let me know how the 2.7 sounds. I pondered on the 2.7 but chickened out.

My sweet thunder 2.75" came in on friday night. I installed them on sunday night. I'm happy with them, the exhaust has better tone now and i can hear the radio when I'm cruising. its still loud at WOT and has nice rumble at idle (idle is louder then when I had 2.5" flowmaster exhaust but not radical like open sidepipes) but it gets nice and tame at low rpms in 4th gear. I'm used to having open 4" pipes for the last 4-5months so the car doesn't sound too loud compared to what i was used too. with open pipes it was loud all the time, i got pulled over 3 times and i would have to avoid center of town and always watch for cops, and I could never hear the radio and i had to yell to talk with passenger.

as for power, i haven't dynoed it before or after so i can't really say for sure. But to me it feels like more torque at lower rpm and didn't seem to lose pull in the mid and high rpm either compared to open pipes. The car still burns the 275/60 tires in 1st and 2nd gear if i drop the clutch. I'm only running a 350 with somewhere around 275-300rwhp, so maybe if i had a 400rwhp car i would have noticed a power loss with inserts.

Only problem i have is they seem to rattle and vibrate at idle a little bit. I think I have to wedge the sidetubes onto the headers a little tighter to fix this problem. the inserts have an expanded end which wedges between the inside expansion of side tube and edge of header collector.

Overall I'm happy with what I got for the money. In the future if I get more HP and feel like this set up is holding me back I'll swap to open STS baffles then. But the 2.75" sweet thunders seem to be a perfect match for my current power level.

did you end up getting the 2.5" weet thunders installed yet? They should be similar to mine but tamed down a bit in Db.

I got them and installed them, but I'm still tuning the engine. From what I have heard the sound is really good. I'm in the process of doing a resto mod frame off and right now the body is in one garage and the frame is in another so it may be a while before I hit the road with it. I'll keep you posted. I think the 2.75 would be a little loud for me.

Heads up for those looking for the Hooker Max Flos...they're now available on your favorite Internet auction site, the one that starts with e and ends in bay.

I found them from one company on ebay, it said they had 10 avaible. So i ordered them with paypal and they charged my bank account. then a few days later the company emailed me and said they were backordered and were sorry because they weren't available. they refunded me the money, but didn't change the description on ebay lol. this was last month and it was the only seller which offered them at the time. So i would contact seller if someone is interested in ebay purchase, just a heads up from my own experience.

as for the sweet thunders, I was able to tighten the rattle from passenger side by moving pipes into the header more. however the drivers side doesn't fit as snug for some reason, it still vibrates. I'm gonna have to figure out something to make the insert fit better.
