Default Needing Hooker Max flow inserts for sidepipes

I have been trying to find Hooker Headers 21046HKR, which are the Max Flow inserts. I've had a set ordered from Summit Racing, but now it's going to be 10/22/09. I've check Jegs and a couple other places but know one has them in stock. Anyone know where else to purchase them.
Thanks

Good question. From what I can figure out the hooker Max Flows have a deeper sound then the spiral baffles, plus the spirals are about twice the price. I know you get what you pay for, but cost is a big issue right now.

the max flows have fiberglass which will burn out and you will have to replace them thus ending up being the same price as the STS

The Max Flos still sound better.

And the fiberglass doesn't burn out.

I also like the sound of the max flows better. Also, this is slowly going to be a weekend weather permitting resto mod driver, so even if it does burn out, it should last several years. I know that everyone has a different opinion on the sounds but the max sound kinda old school.

I've been having the same problem. I wanted to buy max flows about 2months ago and they were on backorder then. I haven't been able to find them anyway, not even ebay. Everytime I look at summitracing.com the date for availablity keeps getting pushed back further. they were backordered for 8/17,9/12, 9/27, 10/4, and now 10/22. I want a louder deep tone, i have been driving with open 4" pipes since I got the vette back on the road in may.

i guess is sound is important then its in the eye (or ear) of the beholder but it has been proven that those hooker baffles will kill your hp.

I've read thru lots of posts on this subject. any insert of muffler will cut down on hp with a high hp motor. But the max flows don't rob nearly as more power as some of the other hooker inserts. STS baffles make better power when they're uncapped but they are loud and not a deep in tone. The STS also cost alot more, thats why i decided on max flows. Now if I can find then I will buy them.

Back to back Chassis dyno test Hooker Max Flo Vs Open Headers. Done by ZL1Power on this forum last year at Corvettes of Carlisle on a 600 HP big block. Lost 5hp or so with max flows.

I ran max flow for a few years and thought they sounded ok but were holding me back. I changed to Sweet Thunders new 2 3/4 inch insert designed for 400 + hp. By the seat of my pants it feels like I woke up an extra 100 hp.They are a little loud but the man has not stopped me in the past 3 months that I have had them. John

cool I'm def. interested in how they sound/ perf. I was considering sweet thunders now that max flows are MIA. I would probably go with the 2.75" ver. of them.

I've been putting off buying inserts for too long so I bit the bullet and order sweet-thunders 2.75". Hopefully it will have a nice tone, be a little quieter then my open pipes, and still perf well. I'll post when I have them installed, might be here on friday but probably on monday.
