cigar lighter?
Lighter does not work. I just touched a test light to the power wire (orange) and blew the fuse. what does this tell me? Also if need be how do you remove said lighter setup? thank you in advance

and you have power and most likely ground.Now you just have to connect the power and ground through the lighter element to make "fire".

Ok, replaced lighter unit with one from parts store. Works fine until I plug phone charger into it. Then it blows the fuse. Would be nice to charge phone while cruising in vette but not life or death.

I thought maybe at first the fuse might have been too small but if the lighter works it should be plenty big enough for a phone charger. The socket is meant for the lighter but can be used for charging most of the time but I have seen certain charger plugs that short can short out a lighter socket. You could always install a second charge tap.Also check the bottom of the lighter socket for anything that can short, I've found many things in there including a very small back to a woman's earring.
