Default 1969 heater core box w\AC

I am replacing the heater core in my 69 and it looks like there are some inter heater box bolts\nuts missing (I purchased the car with the dash completely dissasembled.) I have the bolt for the top right hole (bolt attaches from the inside to a clip on the firewall) and I have the nut for the top left hole (nut attaches to bolt from the engine compartment.) What I don't have is nuts and\or bolts for the bottom two holes. What kind of nuts\bolts do\clips do I need to get, who stocks them and do I need to unbolt the outer box in order to install?

The bolts if I remember right were of the T design. Don't hold me to it, I'll have to check a box I have.

The nuts were a standard nut with a lip around them. I think the nuts would be something you can find at a hardware store. I may have a box with some studs and nuts still in place! I'll have to check tomorrow to see.

Here is how the box is attached to the fire wall.

Did you ever find an inner heater box in your shop. I think the diagram that you send me was for the engine compartment heater box. I am referencing the inner heater box, the one located inside the car down near the passengers foot. Thanks in advance.

I'll be honest, I forgot all about it! I just posted a pop up note in my office and I'll have this checked tomorrow.

I think you can access all the nuts and bolts except the 1 sticking thru the box now.
you can use regular 1/4=20 nuts and bolts,
but someone will have to help from the other side.
maybe this pic. will help this is a 69w/AC

Here's a box with the firewall stud and three mount holes. But I can't remember how the three bolts were fixed to the firewall(?). But the pic might have some hints in some way....

The bolts are of the T design, but they are riveted to the inner box with two rivets on each side. There is one stud mounted to the firewall and in the picture above it's listed as "production stud".

Default heater core - passenger compartment

Attached is the bolt and speed nut that was removed from the top right hole of the heater box that was pulled from within the passenger compartment. It appears that this bolt it not supposed to go thru the engine compartment but tighten itself directly on the firewall. Does anybody know where I can get another one of the bolts and speed nuts for the bottom right hole also?

I'm not familar with this, can you post a picture where this came from? I'll take a look at a box later today.

This speed nut and bolt looks similar to those used on inner fender to fender on older passenger cars and trucks and could be purchased at a local parts store.

Willcox,

If you will look at the very first picture at the top of the post, you will see the speed nut that I am talking about. Hope this helps.

you only use 1 clip for the top right, the top left has the stud for a nut on the firewall side, the bottom left has a plate on the a/c housing, the bottom right has a plate on the firewall. Dr. Rebuild has some not the original style but they work.
