I'm tryin to replace the front coil springs on the 72 BB with AC. The part number every parts house shows is 5762 for the moog springs. These springs are at least 3" shorter an the diameter of the steel is smaller than the stock spring. The stock spring is almost 16" tall an has app 11 coils compared to 7 coils on the new one. I called moog an they said that this is the correct spring. That its rated for 500ppsi. I don't believe this spring will work. Someone here has had this dilemma too. Please chime in an gimme some guidance.
Big block owners with AC what kinda springs are yawl runnin? What's the part number you used? This is really slowing me up on the front end. I'm at a point to where I'm gonna have to decide if I'm goin to use the new shorter spring that I'm worried is too weak. Or install the older orginal springs. Please someone chime in here.
Talk to Eaton Detroit Spring as they have all the original blueprints for most of the GM springs. They will cost a little more, but they will be correct. Plus they are MADE IN THE USA.
The shorter 550lb springs will work for that application, and don't require a spring compressor to install. If you're going for true original take Duke94's advice and call Eaton

orginality is not that big a priority for me since the motors is already gone. i am concerned that the these springs work and ride correct though. i dont want to have to re-do this. i am going back with the BB AC car and i dont want any wheel clearance issues because of these springs. as long as yawl have had experience with these springs and have had good results ill use them then. thanks for the input and advice. matt
