Default 72 headlight problem

Finishing a body off resto, when i pull the headlight switch to on,the lights will come on but the headlights will not pop up,when i pull the alternate switch under the steering column, the headlights pop up. Any suggestions on what could be the problem? Thanks

mine did the same thing....what I found was my headlight switch had a rubber gasket that was leaking. I took the switch apart and resealed the gasket with a smear of "Ultra Black" lights pop right up now
Lucky for me my windshield was out at the time so I could pull my dashpad off and access the switch real easy.

You may want to verify your vacuum hose connections via the diagram that is around first.

Hi 7,
Check to make sure the blue striped vacuum hose is on the front nipple of the headlight switch. Many diagrams have it incorrectly shown on the rear nipple.
Regards,
Alan

Try pulling the headlight switch out very very slowly and see if the lights pop up, or push it in and out between the park and headlight position. If you can get the lights to pop its probably as Alan said the hoses are backwards.
In this case its all about dumping the vacuum in the little blue line.
