Default Pre and Post 1986 block

Hi,
I am going to buy this 10105123 http://paceperformance.com/index.asp...D&ProdID=22284 block for my 1980 MANUAL build.

I know that, this is 1 piece rear seal block and I will need some new parts to make it work in my 1980 eg. flywheel, starter motor, roller camshaft .....

Can you tell me, which parts I can use from my 1980 block and which parts I will need to buy to fit 86 block to 1980 MANUAL car, please?

Thank you

I think the distributor gear is different for roller cam use. Probably need self aligning rockers, I think the 1 piece rear main engines used a different harmonic balancer. I think pushrod length is different for roller cams. Not sure if the roller cam has a fuel pump eccentric.

Going to a 153 tooth smaller flywheel I think something is different about the torque converter maybe was the bolt spacing cant remember or nothing was different. been awhile since I did mine.

I'de use a production 90'ish vette gear reduction starter on it.

Sorry noticed your using a manual trans. Maybe a 153 tooth f-body 1 piece RMS flywheel would do the trick.

im putting a 1986 in my 1980 vett right now to i bought a new flywheel for the 86 block and a new tork converter for the 1980 t350 checked this and it does boltup.
bought a new starter for 1980 dont think they even changed from 80 -86.
moter mounts for a 1980 block bolted right up to my 86 block.
im using a harmonic ballancer off a truck on this engine im not running the fuel injection on this 86 block.
my engine is still on the engine stand waiting to get paint on the car first before it gos in im almost ready.
mostly everthing on your 80 bolts right up to the 86 block except u need to change flywheel for 86 one-peice rear seal and match a starter on teeth to new flywheel.
dont know if this helped but this is what im doing to

It depends on what internals you use, the block itself requires nothing unique to get it to bolt into your car, your transmission will mate right up.
  1. If you elect on a 1 pc rear main seal crank you will need a new flywheel.
  2. If you elect on a 1 pc rear main seal crank you MAY need a new dampner (im unsure)
  3. heads determine the need for self aligning rockers - not the block.
  4. you may use pretty much everything from your 80 block. crank (w/ adapter), rods, waterpump, accessories,z-bar, motor mounts, heads, intake, distributor (mellonised gear), cam. that you want.
  5. if you run a roller cam you will need the spider and the dogbone retainers. make sure to run a stepnose cam and the correct retainer at the front of the motor. Note some dual roller timing chains may have slight interference with bosses on the front of the block, these can be clearanced with a little dremel work.
  6. You will need a new oil pan the bump for the dipstick is on the opposite side

I was reading a book by John Lingenfelter and I found out that
1986-on blocks are externally balanced.
So the shopping list is

-1986-on Block
-Externally balanced dumper
-1 piece rear Crankshaft
-Oil pan
-Flywheel
-Clutch cover?
-Starter motor
-Is the 10105123 block drilled for the clutch Z-bar?

Anythig else?

Thank you
